Conventional Fire Alarm Systems
Of the systems which do comply with BS:5839, conventional systems are the most popular and oldest of the systems presently in use in the UK today. Such systems have field devices such as call points, smoke and heat detectors wired separately from the sounder circuits.
Provided an existing conventionally wired fire alarm system is properly maintained, they are easily extended and can be maintained and serviced at relatively low cost.
Twin Wire Fire Alarm Systems
This is now the preferred installation method when designing and installing small to medium sized fire alarm systems. Unlike the
conventionally wired systems detailed above; twin wire systems use the same cable for the field devices as the sounder circuits which substantially reduces both the installation time and material content required to install and or extend systems.
Addressable Fire Alarm Systems
Ideally suited to larger installations where locating the source of the fire in as shorter time as possible is critical, these system relay sources in plain text via the built in on board screen.
Schools, hospitals and hotels and large offices have many areas which need automatic detection so as to allow enough time for occupants to evacuate. These systems offer the end user the best level of detection available and reduce the rate of false alarms.
Wireless Fire Alarm Systems
Sometimes referred to as “Radio Fire Alarm Systems”, they have much improved in reliability over recent years and so are becoming more and more popular. Due to absence of hard wired cabling (as required by
conventionally wired systems), they are quick to install and can be very unobtrusive and give rise to minimal disruption to the end user during the installation process.
Best suited to installations where the concealment of cables would be very difficult or where surface mounted cabling would be unacceptable we are now installing many systems within the Bloomsbury and Harley Street areas of London. Other suitable environments for wireless installations may include Churches, Theaters, Listed Buildings, Galleries, Schools and occupied Hotels.
To this end we design install and maintain systems manufactured by the leading exponents of the dark art of radio systems namely; EMS, Electro Detectors, Apollo Xpander and Hyfire.
Mixed Systems (a smarter approach)
You may have an existing conventional system which is working perfectly and yet you need to extend the system to cover another area within your demise. This extension needs to have a greater level of coverage than the existing system. In the old days this would have meant
changing all the old devices for new with the obvious added cost.
Now you can indeed “have your cake and eat it too” as we can now combine Conventional, Addressable, Twin Wire and Radio Controlled Systems within a single panel (very clever bunnies)!
Aspirating Fire Alarm Systems
Art Gallery, Library, Bonded Warehouse, Theatre? You need a system capable of detecting an item smoldering before the fire starts. Aspirating systems can do this by way of constantly drawing in air through as air sampling chamber.
Temporary Building Site Fire Alarm Systems
From the coverage of a single Welfare or Site Accommodation Unit to whole site installation we can design and install systems to suite and have collaborated with both Skanska (Cross Rail Paddington) and Bouygues Uk (Kings Road) in this regard.
Domestic Smoke Alarms
Covered by Part:6 of BS:5839 these are self-contained units which have a detector (heat, smoke or carbon monoxide gas) and sounder built into the same unit and are not to be confused with a smoke/heat detectors which do not. Mains powered; units also have a built in back up battery and can be interlinked where more than one is installed.
From the installation of single domestic smoke alarms through to the design, installation and maintenance of the very latest in digital hard wired and wire free systems; we can supply systems to suite Hotels, Schools, Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and Offices. All systems are supplied with service contracts which are completed in line with all relevant standards but with particular attention to BS:5839 Parts 1-6.
All fire alarm system are required under British law tot be regularly serviced and maintained by suitably qualified third parties and certified and fully functional on a regular basis. The frequency of such inspections is based an a numbers of factors but in general, systems should be checked at lease twice a year.

- LD1 A system installed throughout the dwelling incorporating detectors in all circulation spaces that form part of the escape routes from the
- Dwelling and in all rooms and areas in which fire might start, other than toilets, bathrooms and shower rooms.
- LD2 A system incorporating detectors in all circulation spaces that form part of the escape routes from the dwelling, and in all rooms or areas that present a high fire risk to occupants.
- LD3 A system incorporating detectors in all circulation spaces that form part of the escape routes from the dwelling.
- PD PD1 A system installed throughout the dwelling incorporating detectors in all areas in which fire might start other than toilets, bath and shower rooms.
- PD2 A system incorporating detectors only in defined rooms or areas of the dwelling in which the risk of fire to property is judged to warrant their provision.
Fire alarm systems installed by us use protocols (electronic language) that are open and available to all. Open protocol systems allow the end user to change from one Service Company to another with ease. As all fire alarm systems are required by law to be regularly serviced and maintained, the ability to change your service company is important to ensure competitive prices for maintenance and service contracts. Closed protocol systems do not allow this and in many cases tie the end user into service plans (which escalate in cost) which they might otherwise want to change.
